In a big weekend of races my first kudos is not for an athlete but for a coach. It’s been an exceptional month for Trisutto coach Cam Watt. After coaching the male and female winners (Sarah Crowley and Josh Amberger) at the Ironman Asia Pacific Championships in Cairns, his athletes have come to Europe with their coach for a block of training and racing. Sarah won the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt with a terrific performance. Josh led from the starters gun to the finish tape, to take the win at 70.3 Jönköping in Sweden. A phenomenal performance from both coach and athletes.
James Cunnama raced his first Ironman back in the Trisutto colours, and he did us proud with a very good 4th place in Frankfurt. While many are raving about his performance, I can pass on to our followers that yes this was a huge performance from the big fella from South Africa, however it is one he can and will build on during the rest of the season.
Over at Challenge Roth, The Bird arrived, and with all the talk of a record, transformed into the Angry Bird. The run course was not like the old one, and is now an extreme challenge of a runners legs – as it should be! So Dani went about building the bike leg to a massive advantage and then controlled all variables on the run. It was a very professional performance that made coach happy.
Jane Hanson got a start with the pro wave in Roth, and went on to show why she has been so dominant in the age group ranks. A supa performance indeed to finish 6th female overall.

Over in Brazil, Reinaldo Colucci took the win, and the first leg of a new race series. Working very hard on his long course training, Rei found that while his legs are tired, they are getting stronger each month. A powerful biking performance saw him dismantle a field of Brazil’s best.
Well done to all our family of athletes racing last weekend and stay tuned for more weekend results.
